Jobs Australia event unpacks how social enterprise and employment services can work together to help scale job opportunities.

In recognising the significant economic force social enterprise commands by injecting $21 billion annually into the economy, Jobs Australia the Peak Body for not-for-profit employment service providers held a workshop on how social enterprise and employment services can work together.

Held last month in Melbourne, the workshop brought together government officials, industry experts, and key figures from various social enterprise organisations.

Speakers included Sally McGeoch and Lisa Waldron, Senior Advisors at Westpac Foundation; Matt Pfahlert, CEO of the Australian Centre for Rural Entrepreneurship; Jess Moore, CEO of Social Enterprise Australia; Mark Daniels, Chief Operating Officer at White Box Enterprises; Prof. Jo Barraket AM, Director at Melbourne Social Equity Institute; Ella Camille, International Partnerships Manager at Social Enterprise Academy; James Finnie, Senior Adviser with Community Enterprise in Scotland and Stephen Hamill, General Manager of CEiS Ayrshire.

Participants looked at funding landscapes, essential success criteria for social enterprises, and case studies of thriving models both in Australia and internationally. Jobs Australia said the event ignited a renewed sense of purpose in our collective efforts towards driving positive change through social enterprise.
