Verification

Verification of a social enterprise is set against five global standards and allows social enterprises to draw a circle around themselves, so that customers, corporates and government know they are working with a legitimate enterprise that is putting people and planet first.

Who is verification for?

Verification is for enterprises that put People and Planet First. Verified enterprises include social enterprises, cooperatives and mutualism organisations, not-for-profit businesses, purpose-for-profit enterprises, social businesses and regenerative businesses. The focus is on shared core standards, no legal form.

Why get verified?

There’s growing demand for businesses that put people and planet first. But it can be hard to tell the real thing from marketing hype.

To help change this, People and Planet First global verification has launched. It sets five clear and robust minimum standards. Verification against these is simple and affordable. It is governed by social enterprise sector partners around the world, to protect integrity.

No greenwashing.  No social washing.

Just businesses that put people and planet first.

Is my enterprise eligible?

The verification has five standards. An internal point system was developed to support the review process and help enterprises identify opportunities for potential improvement. Points are not shared publicly to prevent comparison across enterprises. Enterprises are either People and Planet First Verified or they are not. It’s that simple.

What makes this different?

People and Planet First was developed by and for the new economy movement as a simple and affordable verification of an enterprise’s core purpose and business model. Every enterprise with the People and Planet First verified badge solves social and/or environmental problems and reinvests the majority of profit for the many, not the few.
